Do you know the date of your appraisal? Do you know who your Responsible Officer is?

Important questions for a GP!

As a practising GP, you should have been allocated a responsible officer (RO) for your annual appraisal and revalidation.

In the coming months, it will be a requirement for GPs signed up to Network Locum (now Lantum), and other agencies, to provide contact details for their RO. For this reason, we thought the following information might be useful.

The RO is assigned from your designated body – for salaried GPs, this will be the organisation you practise in on a regular basis. For locums, you instead have an area team, where you originally became registered on the performer’s list.

You should be able to find out all of this information - your designated body or area team, and your RO – on your GMC online account (if you don’t have an account, you can register via the same link).

If you don’t have a designated body, choose ‘I don’t have a designated body’ in the ‘My Revalidation’ section on your GMC account.

If you have a contract with a particular company or organisation, you can also find out who your RO is here.
